Synopsis
A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them, with the backup of his followers, the Minions.

Critics were mixed but mostly tolerant of this 1970s-set origin story for young Gru. The retro styling and the Minions' slapstick got credit, and young children were seen as the natural audience. The common complaint was that the gags are running out of freshness.
