Synopsis
Hirayama is content with his life as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. Outside of his structured routine, he cherishes music on cassette tapes, books, and taking photos of trees. Through unexpected encounters, he reflects on finding beauty in the world.

Critics responded warmly to this quiet portrait of a Tokyo toilet cleaner finding meaning in routine, with much of the praise going to Koji Yakusho's Cannes-winning performance. The measured pacing, photography and Western pop soundtrack were also credited, with the film's meditative calm as its main appeal.
